She started off as a child star in the South and eventually graduated to mainstream Hindi cinema. She made her mark in 1978 by starring opposite Vinod Mehra in 'Ghar' and then opposite Amitabh Bachchan in 'Muqaddar Ka Sikander'. That year, she was nominated for both the Filmfare Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress awards for these films!

Since then, she's performed in a wide range of roles with aplomb and even won a National Film Award for her acting skills! Clearly one of the most talented Bollywood actresses around--even if she's well past her prime
