God Had Provided A Lamb

A test of one's faith,
Is hard to endure,
But Abraham's faith
was so strong,
God said to offer
his greatest love,
Sweet child of promise,
his son.
God has provided a lamb,
Don't bring down your knife Abraham,
So thankful you'll be,
Your son can go free,
Your God has provided a lamb.
We all have sinned,
The debt must be paid,
God wilt that justice be done,
But He granted pardon,
through one day alone,
Sweet child of promise,
His Son.
God has provided a lamb,
And oh, how unworthy I am,
He could not go free,
He died for you and for me,
My God has provided a lamb.
I should have died,
He was crucified,
My God has provided a lamb.

Mary had a little Lamb,
His fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went,
The Lamb was sure to go.

He followed her to school each day,
When it wasn't against the rules.
He made the children laugh and play,
To have a Lamb at school.

Then the rules changed one day,
Against the law it became.
To bring the Lamb of God to school,
Or even speak His Name.

Every day got worse and worse,
And days turned into years.
Instead of hearing children laugh and play,
You heard them crying tears.

What must we do to stop the crime,
That's in our schools today?
Let the Lamb come back to school,
And teach our kids to pray.

The story behind it is this: Carol Josey teaches a children's class at church and
she was using a lamb puppet in class when the words to Mary had a Little Lamb
came to her head. The Lord told her to write it and she said, Lord everyone
knows that poem. He said write it anyway. When she got home, she began to
write and she realized the words were not the same as our familiar nursery
rhyme. He began to reveal to her that Mary (Jesus' Mother) had a Little Lamb
(Jesus).
