( Visit desitarka.org) Living a worry free life?

The story is told of a man who was full of worry. One day he was standing on the banks of a river, when a dog on the other side started barking.

The man pulled out his umbrella and started brandishing it at the dog.

"Why are you doing that?", asked a passer-by.

The man looked worried.

"In case the river dries up suddenly and the dog comes charging at me, I must be ready," he said.

We laugh at the man's foolishness.

But just think how many times we too needlessly worry over very little things.

We often make mountains out of molehills.

Our worrying shows that deep down in our heart, consciously or unconsciously, we doubt whether God will solve our problem, supply our need, help us in the difficult situation we are facing, etc.

All our worries are actually unnecessary – like peeling an onion; we keep peeling with tears and finally find nothing inside.

"Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you" (I Pet 5:7). Remember, the promise is not, 'Casting some of your cares on Him for He cares for you,' but 'casting ALL your care (ALL your worries) on Him for He cares for you.'

What a great and glorious promise! The King of the whole universe; the One Who created the entire universe; the One Who is rich in mercy, compassion, and love; the One Who cared so much that He died for us, is caring for us.

Such a good God is caring for us.

What a great privilege! However, when we face our little problems, we don't realize that our God cares for us more than we care for ourselves. Note, it says, "He CARETH for you," and not 'He cared for you' (in the past) or 'He is going to care for you' (in the future).

He is caring for us NOW.

All our worries will leave us when we realize that "God is able" (Eph. 3:20, Jude 24) to help us in all situations at all times.

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (Psa. 46:1).

"What is man…that Thou shouldest visit him every morning" (Job 7:17,18).

Let us suppose that the President makes a friendly visit to our little home every morning.

 Will we take it lightly?

How much more honoured we must feel when the King of kings and Lord of lords visits us!

We are like a little plant.

The Lord cares for us so much that He is "watering" us every moment.

"I the Lord do keep it night and day; I will water it every moment" (Isa 27:3).

Very often our worries arrest the hand of the Lord; they prevent Him from working for us.

The story is told of a time when Napoleon's army marched through a European country, plundering, and looting, and destroying people and houses as they went.

A Christian lady came to know that the army was to march through her street.

She told her children, "Let's pray that God will be a wall around our house to protect us."

Those little children sincerely prayed, and they all slept well that night without any worry at all. Napoleon's army did pass that way that night, but heavy snowfall made a wall around that lady's house and the army could not see the house.

Dear friend, why don't you cast all your care upon Him? HE cares for you more than you could care for yourself.

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" (Phil. 4:6,7).

Please note, this message does not say that God will give you whatever you pray for.

He knows what to give you, and when.

But when we cast all our care upon Him through prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving, the peace of God which passes all our understanding shall keep our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

That is far better than getting all that we ask for.

Dear reader, if you are a sinner or a backslider, Jesus is inviting you today.

"Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matt 11:28).

"Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear-
All because we do not carry
  Everything to God in prayer."
